Slough Olympica - 28 July 2024

Cippenham Table Tennis Club was delighted to be involved with the first-ever Slough Olympica on Sunday. Held at Arbour Park Stadium, the home of Slough Town Football Club, and organised by Slough Hub, the event provided numerous sports an opportunity to showcase themselves to the local public who were invited to "have a go". The Slough public turned up in their masses and led to the organisers called the event a huge success.

Lots of people had the chance to have a go at hitting a table tennis ball, some being hardly old enough to see above the height of the table. The table was busy at the start and especially at the end of the day although the middle of the day was a bit chaotic as the organisers attempted to organise a competition for local players on the one and only table available.

From a Cippenham TTC perspective the Club is indebted to Sue Hayes who organised proceedings, including producing a rota of helpers who included Martin Adams, Maciej Dlugozima, Keith Hall, Mary Heffernan, Elroy Hull, Jyothi, Bharath and Sai Prasanna Kumar, Randall Rodrigues, Margaret Thornton and Graham Trimming. Special thanks, though, go to Tim Kiteley who was present all day and enthusiastically engaged visitors, feeding the ball to them so that they could practise their skills.
